Newborn Photography Props You May Need

newborn photography tipsWraps

Wraps are the most basic and essential newborn photography props that you could ever start with. Newborns are usually not that used to the outside world just yet. At some point, they still think that they are still in the wombs of their mothers. That explains why they like to be swaddled all the time. It brings them a certain sense of safety and security. This is the first thing that you should have on your list if you are going shopping for some newborn photography props. Look for something that is made out of gauze because that is the most common and the most comfortable one out there. Wraps are awesome stand-ins for clothes especially when the parents are not comfortable with getting their babies filmed in the nude.

Blankets

All blankets and different kinds of fabrics will always go well with babies. This is probably because of the fact that they are sleeping almost all of the time. These props are something that you may already have on hand so try to look through what you have stored and tucked away at some point. When choosing the blankets you would like to go with though, make sure you check out the texture. You want to go with something soft to the touch. Babies and rough fabrics do not go well together.

Faux furs

Faux furs are awesome for newborn baby photography shoots. They are soft to the touch and they are oftentimes thick as well. They make for excelling padding that the newborns can lie on or even as fillers to use in containers, baskets, and so on and so forth. The best part in all of this is that faux furs are usually very cheap. You can get them at quite a bargain per yard and the texture they come with is just unbelievably nice.

Hats

Babies and head gear go well together. They look cute and adorable. Invest in pieces that are unique and in those that look interesting. Go for those pieces that are colorful, stretchy, and soft to the touch. Ask the parents if this is something they are OK with what kind of head gear you are putting in because they may have some ideas of their own. Try to pair the hats up with a fairly neutral colored blanket or wrap so as not to make the picture look a little too busy and distracting and you do not want that. Remember, the focus should always be on the baby more than anything else.

Crates

Go for crates that are made out of wood. They are unique and they bring in a sense of story and character to the photos. Make sure that you pad them accordingly so that the newborn will not feel uncomfortable by any means.

Baskets

There are a lot of different baskets out there and it is always a great idea to make sure that you have a wide assortment to choose from. They are also quite cheap to come by with so you are guaranteed that you will be able to amass quite a collection without breaking the bank too much.
